Ameresco is seeking to grow its Energy Storage and Microgrid team within our Federal Business Unit to accelerate our ability to develop and implement energy storage and microgrid projects with U.S. Federal Government clients. This role will be critical in supporting Ameresco’s growth and continued success in the emerging and highly valued energy storage market sector.
The Project Developer will work collaboratively with Ameresco Federal team members to evaluate new energy storage project opportunities, develop technical and economic proposals, design system architecture for energy storage systems within Energy Savings Performance Contracted (ESPC) projects, and contribute to technical writing responses for energy storage measures.
In addition to directly developing Federal energy storage projects, the Project Developer will support the Energy Storage and Microgrid Center of Excellence team which focuses on: continually understanding and capitalizing on market drivers for energy storage; assessing storage technologies and vendors; developing training materials; and disseminating knowledge and projects lessons learned across various Ameresco Business Units.
The ideal candidate will have strong technical data analysis and technical writing skills, will be self-motivated, capable of working both collaboratively and independently, have the ability and initiative to learn technical and new subjects, and enjoy working in a quickly growing and dynamic industry
Evaluate and vet energy storage project opportunities to determine which opportunities are worth pursuing based on technical, economic, market and project screening criteria
Gather relevant project information and data, conduct engineering analysis to design system architecture and calculate project cost, savings and revenue opportunity
Assess project site conditions to determine siting locations of energy storage systems
Support Electrical Engineers with Interconnect Application processes for energy storage systems
Identify registration and application requirements for participation in Ancillary Services and Energy Markets
Identify other grant and subsidy programs available from Utilities, Independent System Operators (ISOs), State and Federal Government and other sources
Lead bid processes of energy storage system procurement by developing scopes of work, issuing requests for bids from energy storage vendors, and selecting technologies and vendors for project proposal
Analyze and report project savings opportunity using Excel based models and other analysis tools to design energy storage systems utilized for customer utility bill savings, energy market participation and resiliency
Contribute to technical writing of project proposals and responses to industry RFIs and RFPs
Support activity related to construction, operation and maintenance of energy storage systems as needed
Assist with Energy Storage and Microgrid COE activities. This may include research and value estimation of energy storage markets (e.g. demand response, ancillary services), continual improvement of screening tools and energy storage standards and processes, assessing energy storage and controls vendors, and maintaining information databases
Perform other duties as required.
